THE TEAM

GRETCHEN LANSING

OWNER

Gretchen Lansing, LMT, BCTMB, AMTA

I started massaging when I was in high school, giving friends and teachers massages on cafeteria tables. I also would massage my father’s horses during and after driving carriage rides. I found my calling.

In 1992 I attended the Connecticut Center for Massage Therapy in Newington CT. Two years later I moved back home to Lake George and began working at The Sagamore Spa in Bolton landing, NY. Then later moved to Lake Placid and began working out of The Lily Pad. I had the chance to go on tour with Shania Twain and drive her horse trailer and give her massages. I then opened my office out of my home, Clouds Above Massage. During my 10 years as Clouds Above Massage, became captain of the Ironman massage tent for 8 years. I worked on the Canadian Olympic and World Champion freestyle ski jumping team. I taught massage therapy at the North Country Community College massage therapy program and had 12 graduates study under my licensure in that time.

My house started to get smaller with a baby crawling around so I moved my business to Balanced Bodywork & Massage. Working for nearly 4 years with many professionals and adding 5 more graduates under my license. For the last Nine years I have also loved working with all the incredible athletes at the Olympic Training Center. USA Bobsled and Skeleton team have taken me with them to Europe two years in a row.  I was lucky enough to be asked to join them in Sochi Russia for the winter 2014 Olympics and Pyeonchang South Korea Olympics. I have also traveled with the USA womens hockey team.

Now have Healing Elements and loving all the hard work.

Marybeth Whitman

L.M.T.

My name is Marybeth Whitman. I am a native to Tupper Lake NY. After graduating from  Tupper Lake High School in 1970 I attended SUNY Plattsburgh  seeking a career in education. However, I decided that was not the path I wanted to be on at that time.

I moved to Long Island NY and enrolled at Wilfred Beauty Academy to study Cosmetology in Selden NY. I graduated  and became licensed to practice in New York State in November 1977 and moved back to my home area to pursue my career in Beauty.

I practiced for 22 years in Plattsburgh  in my field - eventually owning and operating my very successful beauty salon there for 10 years. While living there , I enjoyed the beauty of the area and spent my free time exploring and learning the history of the Lake Champlain Area . I also spent much time traveling throughout the US and Europe , seeking and attending educational seminars relative to my work, too numerous to list.

In July 1998, I moved back to Tupper Lake New York with my family to be closer to my aging Mother and family. I started working that year at the prestigious 4 Diamond Resort , Mirror Lake Inn Resort and Spa .  My work there included both Salon and Spa treatments specializing in Massage therapy , Body Treatments, and Skin care. Our local community college North Country Community College was adding Massage Therapy Program to their curriculum so I enrolled and completed the 2 year program earning an AAS degree thus becoming licensed to practice massage therapy  in New York and again have traveled throughout the US for many seminars to continue my educational growth in my field. The modalities I offer include Swedish, Deep Tissue, Stone Therapy, Craniosacral Therapy, Thai massage (table / floor), Pregnancy massage, Reflexology, Bellanina Facelift Massage, Lymphatic Drainage techniques.

I am a Health Coach for Take Shape for Life fueled by Medifast. My website for information : mbhealthyliving.tsfl.com. This program is medically supervised by Dr Wayne Anderson; founder /director to establish Habits for Health.

I am currently retired from the Mirror Lake Inn Resort and Spa after 16.5 years of service. I spend time with my 3 children  Jacob, Janelle, Jordan and my Granddaughter Chanelle . I enjoy this beautiful area - my home -- and all it offers. Nowadays, I may be found hiking ,camping, swimming, canoeing - or just sitting quiet listening to nature ;  my most meditative activity !

Rebecca W.

I am Rebecca Wolford. I have been a passionate massage therapist for 25 years. I went to school in New Mexico and practiced many years under a chiropractor and in physical therapy. I also have a Bachelors in Exercise Physiology from the University of New Mexico and am a Licensed Esthetics Professional in NY. I hold a NY Massage License and have been National Certified since 1992. LaStone Therapy, the original hot and cold stone massage is my speciality. Vascular gymnastics is a healing tool. Heat assists by flushing tissue with healing blood and cold draws out inflammation facilitating healing. SASTM and other myofascial release techniques are part of my skill set. Cranial Sacral, Tragger, Neuromuscular, Rieki, cupping and many more modalities are part of my arsenal to incorporate into any treatment plan. Working with people who are managing pain or orthopedic challenges has been my primary practice. I also teach foam roller release techniques and perform personal fitness training in the comfort of your home. The body is an amazing machine which we use and abuse. Self care is vital to maintaining function. Exercise, massage and other forms of alternative treatments can assist you in performing any activity you desire without leaving your muscles in a bind.
